why?

As theatre artists, I think it's extremely important for us to think about why we do what we do. What can we gain? What can we give? This is an important discovery.

I will never forget in 2017 when Viola Davis won her Academy Award for her performance in Fences. As she took the stage, she said these words: "There is one place where all the people with the greatest potential are gathered. And that's the graveyard. People ask me all the time "What kind of stories do you want to tell Viola?" I tell them, exhume those bodies. Exhume those stories. The stories of the people who dreamed big and never saw those dreams to fruition. People who fell in love and lost. I became an artist and thank god I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life."

These words. These beautifully articulated words spoke to me. They cleared a path in my mind that pointed me directly to what I want to do. I want to tell those stories too.

As a storyteller, I tell stories of those who are different, alone or lost because everyone deserves to have their story told.
